One of the things we are most proud of here at Nova MHS is the fact that we are able to provide very specialized services. This is through having therapists who work under the general focuses of Nova MHS and then they are able to sub focus or specialize. To see what individual therapists focus or specialize on go to our page named, "meet us."

This article will go through the 4 main focuses of Nova Mental Health Services. The hope is this will give the reader a better idea of what we can offer. It is also important to note that we also provide services for a wide range of mental health diagnoses and reasons for seeking therapy. These 4 areas are just where we thrive, as are the individual interests and focuses of our therapists.

Neurodiversity (ND) Affirming Therapy

ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Neurodiverse diagnoses are common diagnoses that often goes missed diagnosed or undiagnosed until later in life. This is especially true for females and AFAB. Co-existing mental health issues are also common with ND. Nova provides therapy for teens and adults who are ND and who are looking to gain skills to help them cope with everyday stressors and social interactions, while also looking for an affirming approach. ND may cause difficulties in ones life but it can also be what makes you amazing!

See our blog post, "What Does it Mean to Be Neurodiversity Affirming" & "ADHD, Autism or Both, How to Recognize the Difference," to learn more!

Depression, Trauma and/ or Anxiety

Depression and Anxiety are two of the most common mental health diagnoses affecting hundreds of millions of people world wide. Yet, many people do not seek out treatment. NMHS helps empower, educate and provide skills to clients to help them decrease their depression and/ or anxiety symptoms.

Trauma can happen and arguably does happen to everyone. Not everyone has or develops PTSD. However both, if left ignored can seriously disrupt a persons life and goals. Whether you come here for PTSD treatment using our trauma informed approach or trauma impacts your mental health journey, we are here to help you.

See our blog post, "What is Trauma Informed Care?" to learn more about this approach.

LGBTQI+ Affirming Therapy

At Nova we use affirmative therapy to validate and advocate for our clients. We work to provide an inclusive safe space for every client we see. We understand that people who identify at LGBTQI+ face complex issues surrounding their identity, in addition to other possible stressors.

See our blog post, "Why is LGBTQI+ Affirming Care Important?" to learn more about this approach.

Adoption Informed and Affirming Therapy  (TAC Trained)

Adoption is a complex system in our society that is filled with loss, trauma, hope and strength. Using a TAC (Training for Adoption Competency) approach, we work with birth parents, foster parents/families, blended families, adoptive parents and adoptees (including adult adoptees). We provide a safe and informed space to process feelings surrounding adoption, identity, grief and more. We help provide education to dispel myths surrounding adoption, resources to connect to a supportive community and provide support during difficult moments and milestones.

At this time, Tayler Clark, is the only therapist on our team with this training. However, plans to send more staff members to the training is in the works.

See our blog post, "What is TAC?" to learn more about this approach.
