My Bio
Hi, I’m Jamie McCleave (they/them), a Master of Social Work student at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s Helen Bader School of Social Welfare. I’m on track to graduate in Spring 2026 and plan to pursue my LCSW licensure, with additional training in psychedelic-assisted therapy. My clinical focus is rooted in trauma-informed care, and I’m passionate about creating supportive, affirming spaces for queer and neurodivergent individuals navigating mental health challenges, identity exploration, and life transitions.
Originally from New York and raised in Northeast Wisconsin, I earned my BA in Russian Language and International Studies from UW–Madison in 2015. My journey into mental health work has been shaped by a commitment to community, peer support, and lived experience. I’m sex-positive, kink-aware, and polyamory-affirming, and I approach therapy with deep respect for the complexity of human connection and identity.
I currently intern at Nova MHS and also volunteer as a peer support facilitator with NAMI Southeast Wisconsin, where I help individuals feel seen, heard, and less alone in their struggles. I've facilitated support groups and bring a collaborative, client-centered style to my work—one that honors autonomy, choice, and self-exploration.
When I’m not studying or in session, you might find me brewing coffee over at Discourse Coffee, diving into queer theory, or having long, meaningful chats with friends. I believe healing work doesn’t always happen in a therapy room—it can be found in community, conversation, and small moments of connection.
If you’re looking for a future-focused therapist who is affirming, thoughtful, and grounded in trauma-informed values, I’d be honored to be part of your journey.
